Frequently asked questions.

The Lifeline ECG adds a real-time 4-lead ECG display to the standard Lifeline AED platform. Same chassis, same pads, same battery family (DBP-1400 / DBP-2800), same 8-year warranty. Only the display and analysis output change. The ECG view shows the rhythm before, during, and after shock delivery, useful for trained responders who want diagnostic visibility. Cost difference is about $1,400 ($1,478.80 vs $2,885.40). If your team isn’t BLS-trained, you can’t use the ECG display effectively, so the upgrade is wasted.

No, shock decision logic and energy delivery are identical between the Lifeline AED and Lifeline ECG. The device still analyzes rhythm automatically and delivers the same biphasic shock. The ECG display is informational, not control. A trained responder can use the displayed rhythm to confirm the device’s auto-recommendation or note rhythm changes for the responding EMS team, but they cannot override the auto-shock decision. Manual override is only available on the LIFEPAK 1000 and ZOLL AED Pro.

Yes, the Lifeline ECG works for lay rescuers identically to the standard Lifeline. The ECG screen is ignorable; voice prompts guide the rescue exactly as on the base model. However, paying the $1,400 premium for a feature your lay rescuer can’t use is wasteful. If your facility’s responders are uniformly untrained, choose the standard Lifeline AED. The ECG model is the right pick only when your facility has at least one BLS-trained team member who can interpret the display.
