At least 21 states mandate AEDs in K-12 schools by statute or regulation, with roughly 14 more covering school athletic events; the CDC’s public-access defibrillation fact sheet counts schools among the most commonly mandated AED locations. Map the 4 zones: main building, gym, fields and pool, response team, then verify each with a timed walking drill.
