How long does the Defibtech Lifeline battery last?
Five years standby for the DBP-1400 (125 shocks or 8 hours of operation) and seven years for the DBP-2800 (300 shocks or 16 hours), per Defibtech, with the 9-volt monitoring battery installed. Replacement DBP-1400 is $229.10 and DBP-2800 $267.70 at AED Leader on 18 September 2026.
Which Defibtech AEDs take the DBP-1400?
The Lifeline (DDU-100) and Lifeline AUTO (DDU-120), the two-button units. The Lifeline VIEW, ECG and PRO use the DBP-2003 battery pack, which is a different part.
Is the DBP-2800 worth $38.60 more?
Yes for any unit that will not be inspected monthly. Seven years standby versus five removes one battery event from a ten-year plan: two DBP-1400 packs cost $458.20 over ten years, one DBP-2800 plus one DBP-1400 cost $496.80 but with one fewer swap to miss.
The DBP-1400 is easy to install
Replacing the Defibtech Lifeline AED battery is quick and simple. After you insert the new battery pack, the device runs a self-test. It confirms it’s ready with a sound and a light on the display. Once the indicator appears, the AED is prepared for emergency use.
The Defibtech DBP-1400 is the standard 5-year battery for the Lifeline AED (DCF-100 model). 5-year installed life, among the longest available at this price point. Compatible with the standard Lifeline AED, not the VIEW or ECG variants. If you need higher capacity (more rescue cycles in a single unit), see the DBP-2800 high-capacity upgrade. Frequently asked questions.
DBP-1400 vs DBP-2800: which do I need?
Choose DBP-1400 (standard, $229.10, 5-year standby) for low-call-volume indoor sites: offices, single-cabinet deployments, low-rescue-probability environments. Choose DBP-2800 (high-capacity, $267.70, 7-year cycle) for fire / EMS fleets, remote outdoor sites where service-visit cost matters, or any deployment where extended battery life reduces operational overhead. The $70 premium pays back by eliminating ~3 swap visits over the 7-year window. For multi-site Defibtech fleets, DBP-2800 is usually the right TCO choice.
Will my Lifeline accept either battery?
Yes. Both DBP-1400 and DBP-2800 fit the original Defibtech Lifeline AED and Lifeline ECG. Same physical connector, same shape, same compatibility. The only difference is capacity and resulting installed life. You can swap between the two batteries on the same device without any concern. The choice is purely about deployment economics: cheap-but-shorter-life DBP-1400 vs more-expensive-but-longer-life DBP-2800. Neither will fit the Lifeline VIEW, which requires the dedicated DCF-2003.
