Pediatric Pad Pak is Easy to Install & Use
To swap out your adult cartridge for the child cartridge in an emergency, simply press the tabs on either side of the adult cartridge and slide it out of its chamber. Then slide in the child cartridge. When you hear the click and see the green readiness light on the AED, you’ll know you’re ready to go.
To use, simply peel each pad from the backing and firmly place the pads on the child’s bare skin according to the visual diagram. One pad should be placed on the center of the chest while the other goes on the center of the back.
The pink-coded Pediatric Pad-Pak combines pediatric pads and a pediatric-tuned battery in one swap-in cartridge. Required for any HeartSine 350P/360P/450P cabinet that may serve patients under 8 yr or 55 lb. The deliberately pink packaging is a visual cue, so a panicked rescuer pulls the right Pad-Pak in the dark.

When do I switch from adult to pediatric mid-rescue?
You don’t — pad choice is made before pads are applied to the patient, never mid-rescue. Use the pink Pediatric Pad-Pak for patients under 8 years or 55 pounds; use the gray Adult Pad-Pak for everyone else. Once pads are placed, leave them on for the entire rescue cycle. AHA guidance discourages mid-rescue pad swaps due to risk of compression interruption. For uncertain-age patients, default to adult pads — AHA accepts that as the better-of-two-imperfect-choices outcome.
Is the Pediatric Pad-Pak required by my state K-12 mandate?
Almost certainly yes if your school is in one of the 23 states with active K-12 AED mandates. State mandates uniformly require pediatric capability on every campus AED, and the Pediatric Pad-Pak is the simplest way to meet that requirement on a HeartSine 350P, 360P, or 450P.
