AED Package vs Single AED
Every seller prices the package. Nobody publishes the premium over the bare device, which is the only figure that answers the question. Across the six best-selling models it runs from minus $48 to $63.99.[4][5][6]
Direct answer
Buy the package. On five of the six best-selling AEDs the premium over the bare device is $34 to $63.99, checked 11 September 2026, and a wall cabinet on its own costs $149 to $499. On the ZOLL AED Plus the package is $48 cheaper than the device by itself. Device only makes sense in three narrow cases, listed below.
Package or device only: four questions that settle it
Work down the tree. Most buyers stop at question one.
Do you already own a wall cabinet, an AED sign and a responder kit for this unit?
Is the AED going on a wall, or into a vehicle, bag or field kit?
Are you buying five or more units, or covering more than one site?
Does the package SKU match the device build you priced?
The full package premium table
This is the table no ranked seller page publishes. Read the premium column, not the price column.
| Model | Premium | Device alone | Cheapest complete package | Call |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZOLL AED Plus | minus $48 | $2,082 | $2,034.00 | Package costs less |
| Defibtech Lifeline | $243.05 | $1,478.80 | $1,721.85 | Match the SKU first |
| HeartSine Samaritan 350P | $52.80 | $1,411 | $1,463.80 | Buy the package |
| Philips HeartStart OnSite | minus $7.20 | $1,589 | $1,581.80 | Buy the package |
| ZOLL AED 3 | minus $29.30 | $2,399 | $2,369.70 | Buy the package |
| LIFEPAK CR2 | $63.99 | $2,256 | $2,319.99 | Check stock dates |
One model out of six turns the question upside down. The ZOLL AED Plus device lists at $2,082 and the cheapest complete package is $2,034.00, so the cabinet, signage and responder kit carry a cost of minus $48.[6] At the other end, the LIFEPAK CR2 premium is $63.99 and still buys more than the cheapest cabinet on the market.
Ten year consumable costs sit between about $330 for the ZOLL AED Plus and about $1,342 for the Powerheart G5, a spread roughly twenty times any package premium.[3] A wider cross-seller survey: every AED value package priced and compared. Programme arithmetic sits in the AED cost calculator.
What is actually in an AED package
Eighteen of the 25 ranked package pages list contents. None of them prices what you would otherwise buy, which is the entire point of the comparison.
| Item | In the package | If you buy the device alone |
|---|---|---|
| Defibrillator, FDA-approved (PMA) | Always | Included |
| Pads and battery, installed | Always | Included |
| Wall cabinet | Always | Buy separately, $149 to $499 |
| AED wall sign, three-way or flat | Always | Buy separately |
| Window decal, wall poster | Always | Buy separately |
| Inspection tag or monthly check card | Always | Buy separately |
| First responder kit: mask, gloves, shears, razor, wipes | Always | Buy separately |
| Carry case | Some packages | Buy separately |
| Pediatric pads or cartridge | Extra, except ZOLL AED 3 | Buy separately |
| Spare pads, spare battery | Never | Buy separately |
Two items decide whether a package is complete for your site. The carry case is in the ZOLL AED 3 Value Package and not in the HeartSine Samaritan 350P AED Package.[4] Spare consumables are in none of them, and consumables are implicated in 46.9 per cent of reported AED failures: see AED pads explained and AED batteries explained.[1]
ZOLL AED Plus package vs buying separately
The ZOLL AED Plus Value Package is $2,144.70 at AED Leader and Response Ready (checked 4 October 2026), $62.70 more than the $2,082 device, in semi or fully automatic. The package adds a wall cabinet, carry case, signage, instruction booklets and a first responder kit (AED Leader package listing); a wall cabinet bought on its own costs more than $62.70.

ZOLL AED Plus value package price, and what comes with it
AED Leader lists the ZOLL AED Plus Value Package at $2,144.70, checked 24 September 2026, the same price for the semi-automatic and the fully automatic version. The device alone is $2,082, so the package costs $62.70 more and adds a standard wall cabinet, upgradeable to an alarmed or strobe cabinet, plus the accessories, with a seven-year warranty. The cheapest complete ZOLL AED Plus package in our 11 September survey was $2,034, so compare the cabinet and the warranty before the price. When the package is the wrong buy
Three cases, and two of them are traps that no seller flags.
- The AED never goes on a wall. A van, a boat, a sports kit bag or a patrol vehicle needs a case, not a cabinet. Buy the device and a case, and check the gym and sports guidance on mounting.
- The site already stocks cabinets and signage. A facility adding its fifth unit usually has both on the shelf, which turns the premium into pure duplication. Move to a managed quote instead.
- The cheaper package is a different build or dated stock. Both traps below sit in the current market, and both look like a discount on the listing page.
Trap one: the Defibtech package name that covers two different builds
We price the AED Leader build, DCF-A130-EN-VP at $1,721.85. Other sellers list DCF-A100-EN-VP under the same name for less, which is a different device inside the box.[4][5]
The gap is a different device build inside the box, not a discount. Match the SKU before you compare the price, or you are pricing two products against each other and calling one a bargain.
Trap two: LIFEPAK CR2 packages sold on dated stock
Two sellers list a CR2 package from $1,692.00 with stated expiry against $2,319.99 for current stock, and AED Total Solution runs a dated-stock band of $1,692.00 to $2,010.75.[6] The saving is real. The trade is shelf life.
Not one of those listings publishes the pad and battery expiry dates on the page. Ask for both dates in writing before ordering, then judge the discount against the years of readiness you are giving up.
The short version
A cabinet costs more than any premium in the table. Unless the AED is going into a bag or a vehicle, or the SKU does not match, the package is the buy.
Buy the package
Wall-mounted, one to four units, SKU matched. Five of six models carry a $34 to $63.99 premium and one carries minus $48.[6]
Buy the device only
Vehicle, bag or field kit, or a site that already stocks cabinets and signage. Add a carry case instead.
Get a quote
Five or more units or more than one site. Staged pad expiry and fleet tracking outweigh accessory pricing.

AED package vs single AED: questions buyers actually ask
None of the 25 ranked competitor package pages surveyed on 11 September 2026 carried an FAQ. These are the six questions the query implies.
Is an AED package worth it?
What comes in an AED package?
The defibrillator with pads and battery installed, a wall cabinet, an AED wall sign, a window decal or poster, an inspection tag and a first responder kit holding a CPR mask, gloves, shears, a razor and cleansing wipes. Carry cases appear in some packages and not others, and spare pads are in none of them.[4][5]
Is it cheaper to buy an AED package or just the AED?
The package is cheaper in total cost of ownership every time, because a cabinet alone costs more than any premium in the table above. It is cheaper in headline price only on the ZOLL AED Plus, where the cheapest complete package is $2,034.00 against $2,082 for the device.[5]
Should I buy an AED package or device only?
Device only makes sense in three situations: the unit lives in a vehicle, bag or field kit and will never be mounted; the site already stocks cabinets and signage; or the package SKU is a different build from the device you priced. Everything else points at the package.
Can an AED package cost less than the AED by itself?
Yes. The ZOLL AED Plus is $2,082 at 2026 list and the cheapest complete package is $2,034.00, so the cabinet, signage and responder kit carry a negative cost of $48. That is one model out of six, and it is the reason the premium, not the package price, is the number to compare.[5]
What is never included in an AED package?
Spare pads and a spare battery are in none of the packages priced here, and pediatric pads are extra on every model except the ZOLL AED 3, whose Uni-padz cover both. Since consumables are implicated in 46.9 per cent of AED failures reported to the FDA, budget the first replacement cycle before you compare packages.[1][4]
